Cowlitz deputies foil woman’s plan for revenge killing

Woman arrested, facing charges

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman is facing charges after trying to hire someone to kill her husband for leaving her.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office had information that 54-year-old Dawn Renee Rolfe of Kalama was planning to murder her estranged husband and two others.

A witness told deputies that Rolfe had been surveilling her targets, had planned how to kill them and was looking for help with the plan.

Deputies confirmed with the intended victims that they felt the threat was credible and real. They then began to follow her and heard her trying to obtain a pistol illegally. They also heard her describing the intended victims’ activities at their home.

She was heard describing ways to alter the pistol and how to remove evidence from it.

On September 6, deputies set Rolfe up as she went to buy the pistol. She was taken into custody.

She is charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of felony harassment and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
