PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who threatened to kill two Oregon DHS workers during a home visit in 2017 was convicted by a Multnomah County jury.

The caseworkers went to the Southeast Portland home of Freddy Velasquez-Soto for a pre-arranged visit on August 14, 2017. While they were there, the 51-year-old became aggressive.

As they tried to leave, Velasquez-Soto threatened to cut one of their faces. The caseworkers used a fire escape to get out of the 2nd-story window and hid from Velasquez-Soto until police arrived.

Surveillance video was found that backed up the caseworkers’ version of events, the Multnomah County DA’s Office said in a release.

Velasquez-Soto will be sentenced January 23, 2019.
