Correctional employee charged with sexual misconduct

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An employee with the Oregon Department of Corrections has been indicted for allegedly having sex with an inmate while on the job.

Renee Larsen, 54, is facing a total of 18 charges for sexual misconduct and for tampering with a witness. The indictment said these crimes spanned over an 8-month period that began in January 2017 when she worked at the Columbia River Correctional Institution on Northeast Sunderland Avenue in Portland.

In addition to having sex with an inmate inside the correctional facility, Larsen is also alleged to have attempted to persuade someone she believed could be called a witness to withhold any testimony.

No other details have been released at this time. KOIN 6 News will provide updates when more information becomes available.
