Driver flees after hitting man on moped in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore, (KOIN) — A driver in a red Toyota Camry crashed into a man on a moped early Saturday morning — and didn’t slow down at all before speeding off.

At around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, the driver was heading north on 9th Avenue while the man on the moped was going south. The suspect hastily turned right onto Broadway, striking the man on the moped and driving away.

The 35-year-old rider of the moped was launched onto the Toyota’s windshield before falling to the ground. He suffered serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

Authorities have not yet found the suspect.
