PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man faces a charge of criminally negligent homicide after he allegedly hit a pedestrian in January.

Investigators said Roger Doherty, 82, was driving on Northeast Airport Way near Northeast Mason Street when he swerved off the road and hit Rachelle Cox.

Portland police officers said they found the 34-year-old lying on the ground shortly before 3 p.m. She died at the scene.

Doherty’s Subaru was found a few blocks away.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said Doherty was indicted on August 14 for criminally negligent homicide. He was released on his own recognizance.
