Flashlight-wielding burglar flees in stolen motor home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man stole a motor home after attacking its owner with a flashlight Sunday morning in Salem, deputies said.

Marion County deputies arrested 29-year-old Bryce Mason-McCauley of Salem.

Mason-McCauley is accused of burglarizing a home in the 4000 block of Sky Lane SE at about 9:45 a.m.

Officials said he assaulted the homeowner with a flashlight before fleeing in the victim’s motor home.

The motor home was quickly found parked behind some brush 7 miles away on Smith Road SE.

A K9 found Mason-McCauley hiding behind some brush a short time later, deputies said.

He was booked at the Marion County Jail on a parole violation and is facing charges of burglary, assault, criminal mischief and unlawful use and entry of a motor vehicle.
