Former RN faces prison, $1M fine for trafficking heroin

KOIN, Ore. (KOIN) — A 60-year-old Vancouver woman trafficked heroin while working as a nurse in Portland and now faces up to 20 years behind bars.

Rene Elene Griffin Nunn was arrested in February of 2018 while driving from Vancouver to Portland with about 93 grams of heroin in her purse, according to federal prosecutors.

Nunn was a registered nurse at Adventist Medical Center at the time.

She pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances. She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Nunn will be sentenced on Feb. 3, 2020.
