PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A homicide investigation was launched Tuesday afternoon following reports of gunfire in Hazel Dell, deputies said.

Clark County deputies said they found a person dead at a home in the 600 block of NW 82nd Street after responding to a call about gunfire shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Authorities said there was no threat to the public but have released no additional details.

Tony Sothern lives nearby and said the lack of information released to the public has him on edge.

“I don’t know if we have a killer out here that’s going to come into our home — it’s terrible,” Sothern said. “I want to know how did this and they should be punished for it.”

Sothern added that the house where the investigation is focused “has been a problem child.”

“They had a bunch of garbage in the backyard,” he said. “It really shook me up seeing this stuff happening right next to my home.”

KOIN 6 has reached out to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for information regarding a potential suspect and is waiting for a response.

This is a developing story.
