PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A dispute between a man and woman escalated early Saturday and ended when Lane County deputies shot and killed the man, authorities said.
Deputies were first called around 10 p.m. Friday to a residence in Cottage Grove, but when they responded they couldn’t find either the man or the woman.
About 3 hours later, 911 calls said the pair was back at the residence on Row River Road and in another dispute. Again, the deputies couldn’t find the woman, but said they learned the man was in an outbuilding.
They ordered the man to come out of the building and after a few minutes he did. But the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said he came out and approached the deputies with “a large, fixed blade knife.”
Deputies shot him, the performed CPR. But the man, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
