Man accused of shooting roommate in Oregon City

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was arrested after a shooting and standoff in Oregon City Friday afternoon.

Oregon City police said a man called 911 around 3:30 p.m. and claimed to have been shot by his roommate at the Mt. View Apartments in the 1800 block of Molalla Avenue. Police and deputies had to break the bedroom window to get the victim out.

The Clackamas County SWAT team was called to get the suspect, who was still inside the apartment. The man eventually left the apartment but didn’t surrender after authorities used gas to force him out. The Oregon City Police Department said one officer fired a shot during the use of the gas but the suspect was not hit.

Officers used less-lethal weapons to take the man into custody.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect — identified by officers as 31-year-old Daniel Craig Wiese — was taken to a hospital for evaluation and then booked at the Clackamas County jail.

Wiese is being held without bail on one count each of attempted murder, 1st-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
