PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 19-year-old man is charged with a hate crime after assaulting two loss prevention officers at a department store.
Camar Livingstone is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of menacing, one count of harassment and two counts of intimidation in the second degree.
Authorities say he used homophobic language against a loss prevention officer who approached him in a department store on May 6. He threw merchandise at the officer.
A second loss prevention officer tried to intervene when Livingstone allegedly grabbed a machete from his pants and waved it around. He then fled the store but was arrested shortly after.
