Man convicted for breaking in, assaulting woman in Hillsboro


He sexually assaulted her at knifepoint her in apartment

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in Hillsboro in December 2018 was convicted on July 26.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office said Gabriel Moscote- Saavedra broke into the woman’s apartment on December 2 by removing the screen on her unlocked window. He sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.

Saavedra lived in the same apartment complex and agreed to give a DNA sample when Hillsboro police were investigating the attack. Police also found DNA evidence in the apartment and fingerprints on her window.

Saavedra was found guilty of 1st-degree attempted rape, 1st-degree burglary and 3 counts of 1st-degree sex abuse. His sentencing is scheduled for September 9.
