PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Ulizes Escobar was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison for a fatal shooting in Hillsboro in 2018.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree manslaughter last week. He was first arrested in November 2018 on charges of 1st-degree manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon.

Hillsboro police said there was a report of a shooting inside a residence at 1192 NE Grant St. just before 2 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Luis Diego Hernandez-Garcia dead inside.

Several other friends were inside when the shooting happened, according to police.

Officers later found two small-caliber weapons.

Poynter Middle School went into lockdown for about 15 minutes due to the shooting.
