PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who seriously hurt two people in a head-on crash while high on multiple drugs will spend nearly seven years behind bars.

A judge in Washington County sentenced Hans Robert Eaton last week to 82 months in prison on charges of 2nd-degree assault, felony hit-and-run, intoxicated driving and reckless driving.

On the night of Feb. 18, Eaton was spotted weaving in and out of his lane on Boones Ferry Road in Tualatin before speeding up and crossing into the oncoming lane, according to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.

His vehicle crashed head-on into a second vehicle.

Two people were severely wounded, including broken bones and a brain injury.

Witnesses saw Eaton get out of his car after the crash, stagger around and ask others what had happened. He left the scene despite being told not to and went into a nearby business complex. Eaton then climbed 20 feet up into a tree, possibly to hide from police.

He was arrested and investigators found he had methamphetamine, morphine, hydrocodone and marijuana in his system.
