PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is accused of stealing dozens of tailgates and selling them on eBay.

Loyd Garoutte, 41, was arrested after an investigation into a thief targeting Toyota Tacoma tailgates, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said. More than 40 tailgates were stolen in 2018 in Gresham.

Tailgates are expensive, according to one victim who spoke to KOIN 6 News in October, they can run about $2,500 for a replacement.

Police found out many of the stolen tailgates were later being sold online. Police said 6 tailgates were recovered after they arrested Garoutte.

Garoutte was indicted on 52 counts, 26 of first-degree theft and 26 of felony computer crimes.
