Police: Man stabs restaurant worker multiple times

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Beaverton man is accused of stabbing another man multiple times Friday afternoon in Northeast Portland.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jordan D. Powell-Mathewson has been arrested and charged with assault in the second degree in connection with an attack that happened on the 700th block of Northeast Weidler Street just before 1:30 p.m.

Powell-Mathewson walked up to a restaurant employee who was on his break in the parking lot and then stabbed him multiple times, according to investigators.

The suspect then allegedly walked to his own vehicle in the parking lot, where he was arrested by officers; investigators have also found a knife they believe is connected to the attack.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

The investigation is ongoing.
