Man who bribed ICE to deport wife gets 4 months

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland man who bribed an ICE agent to deport his wife was sentenced to four months in federal prison after pleading guilty.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Antonio Oswaldo Burgos, 48, followed an ICE deportation officer in his car from the ICE officer in Portland to Vancouver. Burgos offered the officer money to deport his wife, who he was in the process of divorcing.

The officer reported the incident and later made a recorded phone call to Burgos, who again offered the officer money to deport his wife, the DA’s office said. Then they arranged a meeting, at which Burgos offered $4,000 to deport his wife and her child from a previous relationship.

The maximum possible sentence for this crime was 15 years and a $250,000 fine.
