PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 42-year-old man was arrested after firing shots in the Montavilla neighborhood on Sunday, adding to the recent string of shootings in the area.
Officers arrived at the 9200 block of Southeast Main Street around 8:15 p.m.
Officers identified Israel Elliot as the sole suspect who fled the scene. Elliot eventually returned to the area during the investigation and was promptly arrested.
No injuries were reported, but officers did find evidence of gunfire. They were not able to find anything that appeared to be struck by bullets in the area which lead them to believe the shots were fired up into the air.
When officers searched the scene, they found a gun hidden behind a rock that was later confirmed to be stolen.
Elliot was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, theft, and reckless endangerment.
