PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A standoff Wednesday night in Northeast Portland shut down part of a major road.

Portland police officers said a man — who may have been armed — was holed up inside the Plaid Pantry in the 3300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Sandy was temporarily closed between Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast 35th Avenue.

Authorities didn’t think the incident was related to a deadly shooting on NE Marine Drive. They later said the man was having a mental health crisis or issues related to narcotics. He was taken into custody and received medical treatment.
