Springfield teacher gets prison for student rape

She was sentenced to 20 months

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A former Springfield Christian school teacher has been sentenced to less than two years in prison for third-degree rape of a student.

The Register-Guard reports 30-year-old Andrea Baber pleaded guilty with the Douglas County District attorney to six counts of contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and three counts of third-degree rape.

Through her plea deal, 20 additional charges, including sodomy and providing marijuana to a minor, were dismissed.

Barber's 20-month prison sentenced will be followed by two years of supervision.

Court documents say Baber was arrested in December 2017 after the teenage victim's father received an anonymous email about their son and Barber.

Baber worked as a teacher at Logos Christian Academy in Springfield until just before her arrest.
