PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly made comments about a woman’s sexual orientation and then punched her in the face.

The 25-year-old victim told Portland police she was walking with friends in the Old Town neighborhood when a man on a bike rode by and made a comment about a man wearing women’s clothing. After the victim responded to what the man said, he reportedly made another comment about her sexual orientation before punching her in the face.

Police said she was hit multiple times, but didn’t need any medical attention at the scene.

According to the victim, the suspect rode away on his bike toward the Greyhound Bus Station. Officers found him in the area and arrested him without incident.

The suspect was later identified as Timothy Emmett Walsh. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of assault and intimidation. He’s also being held for a parole violation.
