Suspect caught after fleeing fatal shooting in McMinnville

The 28-year-old victim died on the way to the hospital

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man died on his way to the hospital after being shot in McMinnville Friday afternoon.

McMinnville Police said 28-year-old Richard Joshua John Barney was shot in the abdomen near Grandhaven Street and Doran Drive around 5 p.m. on June 28.

He was taken by ambulance to meet a Life Flight but died before he could be flown to the hospital.

The suspect, identified by officers as Dustin Allen Brown, fled on a bike and was armed with a 9mm handgun.

He was taken into custody at 2 a.m. Saturday morning on a temporary felony warrant for homicide. Brown was later booked at the Yamhill County Jail.
