The man faces charges of strangulation, kidnapping, reckless driving, DUII and possession of cocaine

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man kidnapped a woman in Tacoma and was arrested in Hillsboro on a slew of charges, police said.

Someone called 911 at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday to report a man assaulting a woman in the loading dock of the Costco on NE 48th Avenue in Hillsboro.

The man got in a semi-truck and drove off without the woman. An off-duty officer also called 911 after seeing the truck driving recklessly from the parking lot onto NE Cornell Road, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.

An officer tried to stop the truck on NE Evergreen Parkway but the driver refused to pull over.

The truck was eventually found stuck along railroad tracks near SW Bailey Avenue north of SW Wood Street. The driver ran from the scene but was found less than a mile away and arrested.

Alfonzo Summers, 61, of Flint, Michigan was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of 2nd-degree kidnapping, strangulation, harassment, recklessly endangering, attempting to elude police, reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform duties of driver when property is damaged, 2nd-degree criminal mischief, unlawful delivery of cocaine, unlawful possession of cocaine and 1st-degree criminal trespass.
