Crime

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was stabbed in the chest in an apparently random and unprovoked attack Sunday night.

Portland police said the victim was waiting for the bus with her dog at NE 82nd Avenue and NE Schuyler Street around 11:30 p.m. on June 16 when the man attacked.

“I heard a woman screaming and right after that there were several police at the end of the street,” said Alta Willman. “I never heard anyone going running by or anything like that I just heard the lady screaming .”

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old pudgy white man, about 5-foot-5-inches tall with stubble on his chin and neck and short, dark hair. He was wearing a plaid shirt, baggy jeans, white tennis shoes and a black or white baseball cap.

The victim’s dog, a 2-year-old Chihuahua named Damu got away during the attack. He was last seen running away on 82nd Avenue near the Banfield Pet Hospital. He doesn’t have a collar or microchip.

If you have any information about the suspect or find the dog, contact Det. Jeff Sharp at 503.823.9773 or Det. Shaye Samora at 503.823.0416.
