Three cars were banged up

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A cyclist was hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Northwest Portland Monday afternoon.

A neighbor told KOIN 6 News the driver was being chased by police before hitting the cyclist then ramming into a parked car, pushing it into two other cars.

This driver was taken into custody after allegedly causing a hit-run crash that injured a bicyclist in Northwest Portland, August 19, 2019 (KOIN)

The driver, later identified as Joshua Hooper, then jumped out of his car and ran off.

The cyclist was hurt but witnesses said they were alert and talking after the crash.

“…he must’ve really been going fast,” Lynne Hoyt said. “That bike rider is lucky. He could’ve been killed.”

While police were investigating the crash, Hooper went up to officers and admitted he was the driver involved, according to officers at the scene.

He could face charges including felony hit-and-run.
