CORVALLIS, Ore. (KOIN) — For the 3rd straight season, the Oregon State Beavers are hosting a regional post-season baseball tournament. Monday, they found out who they’ll face.
The defending champion Beavers will face Creighton, Michigan and Cincinnati in the Corvallis regional and they’re excited to begin the postseason in the comfort of Goss Stadium.
“Obviously, I’m excited to have the opportunity to play at home,” Head Coach Pat Bailey said. “I don’t know what the percentages are but I bet you they’re probably 70% of the time the home team that hosts regionals win their regionals.”
Beavers pitcher Bryce Fehmel said it’s good “when we don’t have to go on the road, really at any point in the postseason, really, but stay at home for the young guys is huge. They’ll be able to sleep in their own beds, stick to their routines, so it will be nice.”
OSU’s first game is at 7 p.m. Friday.
