HAZEL DELL, Wash. (KOIN 6) — Two dogs sitting on a home’s roof, during the afternoon heat, caused a bit of concern for deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday afternoon, the sheriff’s office posted photos to its Facebook page of two dogs sitting on a roof. The dogs had pushed out a window screen and wandered out. Neighbors saw the dogs and called 911. Deputies responded as temperatures got close to the 100-degree mark. The deputies tried to get the dogs back into the house, but were unsuccessful.

Eventually, a family friend arrived to check on the dogs. She told deputies that the dogs’ owners were out of town, and that they had left a second story window open to keep the house cool. The family friend was able to coax the dogs back into the home.

The woman later sent deputies photos of the dogs playing in a backyard pool.

“Much better than hanging out on a hot rooftop,” the sheriff’s office wrote on its Facebook page.
