Detectives seek information on foster parent crimes

News

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Washington County detectives are looking for information about former foster parents who were arrested for child abuse, among other things.

Dawnyle Durham/White/Kaestner and Darren Durham were DHS certified foster parents between 2001 and 2013. During that time they cared for more than 50 children, and adopted 4 before their certification was revoked.

Both are now being held in Washington County Jail on various felony charges including criminal mistreatment, delivery of a controlled substance to a minor (Percocet), applying a controlled substance to a minor and causing a minor to ingest a controlled substance, and more.

“If you look at the charges… that is a tell-tale sign the sort of activity that occurred, but I can’t get into the details,” Sgt. Bob Ray told KOIN 6 News.

Neighbors say the Durham’s weren’t always this way, but in the last year or so, things took a turn for the worse. They say drugs are to blame.

Dawnyle is being held on $150,000 bail and Darren is being held on $110,000.

Their 4 adopted children are in protective custody.

Detectives ask anyone who thinks they know of any unreported child abuse or other crimes involving these parents to call the sheriff’s office or other law enforcement.
