SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A tree fell early Monday morning — causing much of North Salem High School to lose power.
Due to the power outage, officials decided to cancel classes for students. School officials said there is no timeline for restoration from PGE, but staff should report as scheduled.
After-school activities will continue as planned. The rest of the Salem-Keizer School District will still hold classes.
Salem Police Department said the tree fell around 2:40 a.m. across Center St. NE. Drivers should avoid the area of Center St. NE between 17th St. NE and 24th St. NE.
While not all schools are closed, 150 families of students who attend other schools are also affected as buses can’t travel in the impacted area.
