Oregon voter registration deadline arrives for Nov. 5 election

Register to vote for the Nov. 5 special election by Tuesday night

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The voter registration deadline for Oregon’s special election arrives on Tuesday.

Voters can register online here, or can register to vote on paper with an Oregon Voter Registration Card which can be found at any Oregon DMV, post office, library or at your local elections office.

The deadline to register is 11:59 p.m. on October 15.

“I encourage every eligible Oregonian to be registered to vote,” said Secretary of State Bev Clarno. “Our democracy works best when more citizens are engaged.”

The special election will be held on November 5. Although there won’t be any candidate races on the ballot, various local ballot measures will be. The districts on the ballot include the City of Portland, City of Troutdale, Metro, Portland Public School District, and Sauvie Island Fire District.

Election results will begin to come in around 8 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Oregon is reportedly a national leader in voter registration with over 90% of eligible Oregonians registered. This year alone, 4,595 people either updated their registration or registered for the first time.
