PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A small earthquake was recorded near Lincoln City on Sunday morning.
The USGS map shows the 3.6 magnitude earthquake hit near Rose Lodge at 9:23 am. It had a 42.4 km in depth.
Some KOIN 6 viewers reported feeling the quake, especially near Otis.
“It’s what we call a good earthquake because it is enough that a lot of people felt it,” PSU geology professor Scott Burns said. “It’s 3.6 but it will not cause any damage.”
Burns said it reminds us that we live in “earthquake country” in the Pacific Northwest.
“It’s just a nice reminder to us that we are in earthquake country and all of us need to be prepared for earthquakes,” Burns said.
No damage has been reported.
