PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A former Roosevelt High School teacher was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison after child pornography was found on his phone.

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, Phillip Lancaster, 36, was reported to a school resource officer after a boy saw him try to point his cell phone under a bathroom stall.

The officer searched Lancaster’s phone and found multiple files of child pornography. In another search, police found hundreds of photos and videos of children between age 2 and 12, the DA’s office said.

Investigators said none of the child pornography on his phone included Roosevelt students.

Lancaster’s teaching license has expired and he doesn’t work for Portland Public Schools anymore.

“Mr. Lancaster was trusted by the community to educate our youth,” prosecutor BJ Park said in a press release. “Instead, he made a horrible decision and seemingly attempted to capture a young boy in a state of nudity. This boy had an unequivocal right to privacy while using a school restroom.”

After his prison time, Lancaster will be on supervision for 3 years, probation for 5 years and must register as a sex offender and get treatment.
