PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It was a wild ride for Blazers fans in Portland Sunday during Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets.
When the final seconds of the game were ticking down, fans were on the edge of their seats at watch parties like the one at Century Bar in Southeast Portland.
It was a roller coast of a game, especially in the first half, when it looked like Denver might take the series.
Fans were getting nervous but their astonishment, the Blazers made a strong comeback in the third quarter and the cheering ramped up.
“Absolute typical Blazers fashion, just show up, come back from behind and step up big and win it,” fan Jake Nicola said. “I mean it was just incredible.”
They finally closed the gap at the end of the third and fans went wild.
“We were all up on our feet, excited — ready for the win!” fan Joey Nicola said. “I was biting my nails, that what it was it was just like, I am stunned. It’s coming down to the last minute and it’s surreal.”
“It was close, it came down to the free throws and it was awesome Turner made those last couple shots, it was great,” fan Sergio Valencia said.
This is the first time in nearly 20 years the Blazers are heading to the Western Conference Finals.
If you’re looking to catch a game, tickets are on sale for Game 1 in Oakland starting at $125. Tickets for the first Blazers home game of the series open Monday at noon.
