PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Several hundred students at Faubion Elementary School in Northeast Portland spread the message of peace on Tuesday morning.
The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Peace March is an event organized to teach kids about kindness. It follows on the heels of last year’s initiative, where the kids decided to walk around and tell people to be kind.
“This year we had a big dream to spread it through the community, not just the school and it started as just 90 kindergartners and it turned into 700 kids in the whole school,” one teacher said.
Kids walked from Faubion through the campus of nearby Concordia College as part of this year’s 30 minute peace march.
