PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Police found a total of 87 rounds of ammunition inside a vehicle during a traffic stop, according to an affidavit.
Alan Lee Brock Jr., 27, is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday morning after being indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, failure to carry or present a driver’s license and driving while revoked.
Gresham police pulled him over on July 8 near the area of Southeast 162nd and Burnside. Police say Brock didn’t have a license and appeared to have heroin on him when officers searched him.
Officers found a Iver Johnson .38 caliber Smith and a Wesson five shot revolver between the driver seat and console, according to court documents.
Police say they found 17 lose .38 special rounds in the center console; 31 .38 special rounds in a box on the floorboard; and an additional 39 rounds of .32 caliber ammunition in the vehicle’s trunk.
Broke told police that he had the gun “out of concern for his safety because of all the guns on the street,” court documents state.
Records show that Broke has a felony warrant out of Lane County for a probation violation. He was convicted of unlawful possession of meth in Nov. 2009.
