TUALATIN, Ore. (KOIN) — Clark Lumber and True Value Hardware, a family-owned fixture in Tualatin for more than 50 years, was destroyed by a fire that erupted in the early morning hours of Sunday.

Crews arrived at the store, 8460 SW Nyberg Street, around 2:30 a.m., TVF&R officials said. When they arrived, they immediately had to battle the blaze from the outside due to the intensity of the fire. The steel frame and concrete building with a metal roof made the building “like an oven as tools, lumber, paints and other contents burned inside,” they said in a release.

No one was in the store at the time of the fire. The building had neither a fire sprinkler system nor a fire alarm. The owners found out about the fire when multiple security alarms went off.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
