LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KOIN) — This is not Grandma and Grandpa’s Goodwill.
The new Goodwill boutique store on Lower Boones Ferry Road in Lake Oswego has displays populated with luxury brand names — Prada, Coach, Cole Haan, Tommy Bahama, Chanel — and it’s hard to tell they’ve been lightly used.
And they’re all available for a fraction of their former retail prices.
“It’s where the cream of the cream lives,” said Goodwill’s Dale Emanuel. “It’s where we hand select items for the prestige luxury buyer.”
The boutique concept isn’t new to Goodwill but it is expanding. Goodwill has 4 boutique locations including this store in Lake Oswego, with a 5th to open in Newport after the first of the year.
Goodwill’s Emanuel said you can find the same luxury brand named pieces of clothing, but you have to look for them at regular Goodwill stores.
“I think a lot of people would be shocked at a Goodwill store to find a $300 coat that we’re offering,” she told KOIN 6 News, “but this is a Chanel and it retails for about $1200. So if you’re looking for that prestige brand this is ‘Run, don’t walk’ and pick up what you’d like.”
There are stocking stuffers and accessories. One dog lover donated a Neiman Marcus 7-pack of dog socks.
“Well, it’s $95 retail and it’s brand new, and it’s $30 here,” she said. “It’s a really good, could even be a stocking stuffer at that price point.”
Keep in mind the proceeds from Goodwill help fund classes and programs that teach, help with job searches, career development and English classes for people learning the language.
