Grass fire closes 2 highways near Goldendale


GOLDENDALE, Wash. (KOIN) — A grass fire closed two highways in the Columbia River Gorge Thursday night as smoke filled the sky and was seen for miles.

US 97 near Maryhill is closed between milepost 2 and 8, as is SR-14 between milepost 101-105. Washington State Department of Transportation said the highways will remain closed for hours.

There is no estimate at this writing as to the size of the fire.
