Residents evacuated from Bridge Creek Apartments

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Residents of a Wilsonville apartment complex were evacuated when a unit caught fire Wednesday morning.

Several people called 911 around 10:30 a.m to report the fire at the Bridge Creek Apartments in the 29000 block of SW Rose Lane. When firefighters arrived minutes later they spotted fire poking through the roof.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue called for a 2nd alarm to bring extra resources to the apartments in case people were trapped inside. But the fire was contained to just one unit despite the shared attic connecting the apartments. That apartment is a total loss.

The resident’s cat was missing for a time but was later found and taken to a veterinarian for examination.

Two other apartments were damaged by smoke and water, officials said.

Crews quickly got the fire under control. The cause remains under investigation.
