PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon Health & Science University has reactivated their Heart Transplant Program after it was shut down a year ago.
At the time, OHSU said they lost all four of the doctors on the heart transplant team and could no longer perform the operations or provide post-operative care.
The hospital said they spent the last year recruiting heart failure cardiologists from around the country. They said Monday they have hired three specialists from the nation’s top cardiovascular programs.
OHSU is the only health system in Oregon with comprehensive support services for heart transplants.
