Gregory Reese will bike from Portland to NYC to raise awareness

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A few years ago, Gregory Reese nearly went blind from diabetes. He didn’t have insurance and prospects looked bleak.

Then he came to a hospital in Seattle that helped him regain his sight and now he’s about to begin a 3300 mile, 5-week bicycle trip across the US to raise awareness about retinopathy.

Reese will begin his journey Sunday from Portland and will end up in New York City.

To follow along and to help with the cause, he put up a GoFundMe page: Cycling for Sight.
