PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. For every suicide, statistics show another 280 consider it but don’t follow through.
Lines for Life took more than 110,000 calls, texts and emails in 2018, doubling the amount of recent years. They’re able to de-escalate more than 95% of their crisis calls and help those who are struggling find hope and healing.
On Friday, the Bill Naito family made an unprecedented investment in the suicide and substance abuse prevention organization. Their $1 million investment will kickstart an endowment protecting and preserving the longevity of Lines for Life.
This generous gift will allow them to expand and start new programs that would otherwise not be possible.
If you or someone you know needs help, Lines for Life is always there.
