PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Division of Financial Regulation compiled a list of the state’s most expensive and most prescribed drugs.
Brand-name drugs like Humira and Enbrel top the list of the most expensive drugs and are among those with the greatest increase to health plan spending.
Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen was the most prescribed drug, alongside generic drugs to treat conditions like high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Insurance Commissioner Andrew Stolfi said these lists highlight the goal of the drug price transparency program.
“They provide a first step to transparency for Oregonians,” he said. “And help all of us better understand which prescription drugs affect health care costs.”
All 9 of Oregon’s insurance companies submitted drug lists to the Oregon DFR, who then reviewed them to provide this compilation of common prescription drugs to consumers.
The entire Top 25 list is available online.
