KILLEEN, Texas (KOIN) — A soldier from Beaverton was found dead at his home near Fort Hood, Texas Sunday, according to Army officials.

Sergeant John Stobbe was 31-years-old. The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.

According to the Army, Stobbe enlisted in September 2004. He had been based at Fort Hood since June 2014.

During his years as a soldier he was deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. He also spent several months in South Korea.

During his 12 years in the Army, Stobbe was awarded with one Joint Service Commendation Medal, 4 Army Commendation Medals, 2 Army Achievement Medals, 3 Army Good Conduct Medals, and many more.KOIN 6 News will have more information later
