BottleDrop burglar sentenced to 5 years in prison

Brett McQuiston was caught by police during his third theft

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man has been sentenced to five years in prison after robbing two BottleDrop locations and attempting to rob a third.

The first of Brett McQuiston’s BottleDrop burglaries occurred in April at a Beaverton location. McQuiston struck again in June when he broke into Tigard BottleDrop. Both crimes were caught on camera.

McQuiston attempted to rob the Beaverton BottleDrop once more in September, during which Beaverton PD caught him in the act.

McQustion’s signature move was using a crowbar and wearing a mask to commit each burglary.

The burglar confessed to these robberies and various others committed around the area. He said the reason for these crimes was a gambling addiction he needed to fuel, according to police. Officers seized a vehicle bought with the stolen money as evidence.

He was booked on burglary and aggravated theft charges. He’s serving his sentence at the Oregon Department of Corrections.
