SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A woman was arrested after she allegedly beat an Alabama man whom she asked to move in with her, officials said.
Haley Fox, 24, began an online relationship with Samuel Campbell, 26, of Adger, Alabama sometime in 2013, Marion County Sheriff’s Office said. According to detectives, Campbell agreed to move to Oregon and live with Fox.
On April 8 Campbell arrived at Fox’s home on the 7000 block of SE Lipscomb Road to meet her in person for the first time. When he arrived, deputies said Fox led him to an outdoor table and told him to close his eyes and drink some wine.
That’s when things took a violent turn. Detectives said when Campbell closed his eyes, Fox walked behind him and struck him in the head with a baseball bat.
Campbell suffered cuts to the head that required staples, and a fractured skull. Fox told investigators she decided to hurt him because she did not want to be his girlfriend.
A 26-year-old witness has been interviewed, her exact involvement in the case is still being determined.
On April 9 Fox was arrested and charged with first degree assault. Since her arraignment she posted bail and was released from custody.
