PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Bark City BBQ is serving up southern flavors in Southeast Portland.
The cart, located in the Hawthorne Asylum, has been open for three years but only recently moved into the new pod.
Owner Michael Keskin had experience in the restaurant industry and always dreamed of opening his own cart. He said he brings unique flavors that aren’t found in Portland.
“What’s unique about Bark City BBQ is that we have a lot of southern flair to it. We bring the South Carolina style, North Carolina. And we have some Memphis, and Kansas City style bbq involved into us,” he said.
He smokes the meats daily in a smoker brought to Oregon from Georgia. They are served in trays or sandwiches and come with a variety of sauces.
Keskin said the food cart industry is rewarding, especially in a big pod like the Hawthorne Asylum, where he’s surrounded by so many other options for customers who come in groups.
