PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After teachers in La Center voted 75-1 to strike if a new contract deal wasn’t reached by the first day of school, the school district and the teacher’s union reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
La Center schools have their first day on Wednesday. School will start on time and all of the scheduled sports practices will still occur.
“We’re thankful to have reached a tentative resolution,” said Dave Holmes, superintendent of La Center School District. “We’re now committed to refocusing and reunifying around our shared passion: student learning.”
