3-year-old falls out of Happy Valley apartment window

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A three-year-old Happy Valley girl was transferred to a trauma center on Wednesday with non-life-threatening injuries after she fell out of window.

The fall happened around 11 a.m. at the Mt. Scott Commons located at 11299 Southeast

Stephens Road.

Lt. Brandon Paxton with Clackamas Fire said the girl fell the distance of three floors onto a landscaped rock or bark area. 

The girl, who wasn't identified, was transferred to Doernbecher.

Teach kids and caregivers screens keep bugs out, not kids in

  • Open your windows no more than 4 inches
  • If you must open windows more than 4 inches, install a window guardor window stop that an adult can remove in an emergency
  • Keep areas in front of windows clear of anything kids can climb on
  • Move furniture away from windows
  • Keep windows closed and locked when not in use
