Landslide halts Amtrak between Portland-Seattle

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A landslide north of Olympia prompted the suspension of Amtrak services on both the Cascades and Coast Starlight lines through 10 p.m. Sunday, Amtrak officials confirmed to KOIN 6 News.

Three Amtrak Cascades lines are canceled and Amtrak said they're looking for substitute transportation between Kelso and Seattle. Rail service continues north of Seattle and south of Portland, said Amtrak's Kimberly Woods.

BNSF owns the tracks and placed a hold on passenger train travel for 48 hours.
